So many of us, unfortunately, get acne. But, a lot of us don't know why we get it, or how to treat it. I am no skincare expert, but I have researched it, and experienced it myself. Let's get into it!
First; Why do we get acne? Well, it could be for a plethora of reasons. When you're younger (about 12/.13) I wouldn't worry about it. A lot of times it's just because it's a period (no pun intended) in our life where our body is changing, and developing. It's not something a face wash can fix. Your best bet is to leave it alone, and keep your skin well manicured.
By the time you're a bit older, then maybe it is a different problem. I know some girls who don't use face wash, toner, moisturizer, or anything really, and wonder why they are breaking out. As long as you're following a skin care routine every morning/night, you shouldn't have a problem. If you do follow a good routine, another problem could be your diet. Are you drinking enough water? Do you notice you breakout when you eat something in particular? For me, I always breakout after drinking cans of soda. Not soda from a fountain, but particularly cans. You may notice a pattern or reaction after eating/drinking something. Your solution would be to cut it out of your diet.
If that doesn't seem to be the problem, it could be something more internal. Sometimes it's just in our cards to have genetic/hormonal acne. In that case, you should probably visit a dermatologist. Don't lose hope if you cannot get to one though! I know it is expensive and sometimes insurance doesn't cover it. So, a few ways around actually going to the doctor.... 1. Birth Control. I do not take birth control, but my sister has for a few years. She used to have really bad skin, but after taking birth control for a few weeks, it cleared up. She now has the nicest skin in our family. Lol. But seriously, I am not a doctor, so I don't know the exact science behind it, but I know Accutane and Birth Control are very similar. Along with a medication, the doctor will probably prescribe, or suggest, a face cleanser. A lot of people don't realize it, or know, But, because my sister worked in a drugstore (Rite Aid) for years, she realized a large percentage of the time customers will come in with a prescription from the dermatologist. It is (USUALLY) for either CeraVe or Cetaphil. Sometimes people aren't eligible to be taking the medication, so their best bet is a good face wash. I think these two work so well because they'r simple. It is not some grapefruit or cucumber scrub, it is simple and effective. It has fewer ingredients, they obviously don't add a bunch of colors or perfumes, so already it is naturally better.
Those are my best tips+tricks for clear skin! To sum it up, it is most likely either a bacterial (lack of care) issue, a hormonal/genetic problem, or a dietary problem. I hope this helped you guys out a bunch! Follow me, so you'll be notified when I post my favorite/best skincare products! Love you lots xoxo!!
